Пандемия пандемией, а учебный процесс никто не отменял. В 2020 году одной из потерпевшей от коронавируса отраслей стало образование. Из-за введенного режима самоизоляции ученикам и педагогам Иркутской области пришлось подстраиваться и искать альтернативу обучения вне школы.
В первую волну пандемии, когда все образовательные учреждения закрыли для посещения, педагоги стали использовать для обучения различные площадки, которые не отвечали всем требованиям для полноценного обучающего процесса. Осенью ситуация повторилась, и стало понятно, что иркутские школы нуждаются в единой платформе для организации дистанционного учебного процесса.

Решением стал муниципальный проект «Иркутская открытая школа». В ноябре 2020 года его запустил департамент образования города совместно с Группой компаний «Форус». Проект реализуется на базе платформы Microsoft Teams*, которая обеспечивает качество, доступность удаленного обучения и предоставляется бесплатно для образовательных организаций по всему миру.
